Description of the Current Affairs:-

01. Meeting of G-20 Education Ministers in Mendoza, Argentina

  • Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, led a high level delegation to participate in G-20 Education Ministers held in Mendoza, Argentina and joint Ministerial meeting on 05 and 06 September, 2018.
  • This was the first meeting of the Education Ministers in the history of G-20.
  • On the occasion of the inauguration of the Education Ministers meeting Dr. Satya Pal Singh appreciated Argentina for hosting the meeting of the Education Ministers for the first time in the G-20 Summit and thanked him.
  • He said that education should be given top priority for the promotion of any society and country. Therefore, keeping the education in the center of the global agenda is most appropriate.

 

02. Meeting of G-20 Labor and Employment Ministers

  • The Minister of State for Labor and Employment (Independent Charge) Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar led the Indian delegation to the G20 Labor and Employment Ministers held in Mendoza, Argentina on 6-7 September, 2018.
  • Labor and Employment Minister highlighted the initiatives of India for promoting skill development like Prime Minister Skill Development Scheme and setting up field skill councils and creating jobs like start up India and currency scheme.
  • He said that the process of simplifying and rationalizing of nearly 40 labor laws into 4 labor laws has been initiated, which not only creates effective enforcement, better compliance but also ensures universal applicability of various welfare measures.

 

03. Five agreements between India and the Czech Republic

  • The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, reached the Czech Republic on the last stage of the state visit of Cyprus, Bulgaria and Czech Republic countries on Sept. 6, 2018.
  • His welcome was welcomed by the President of the Czech Republic Mr. Milos Zaman.
  • India and the Czech Republic have signed five agreements as part of the visit of President Kovind.
  • These compacts are:
    • Cooperation between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, India and the Czech Academy of Sciences
    • An action plan to support Indo-Czech projects in different areas of science and technology
    • Visa Discrimination Agreement for Diplomatic Passport Holders
    • Collaboration in laser technology between ELI beamline and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research
    • Collaboration between Haryana Agricultural University and Czech Life Sciences University

 

04. 600 global buyers will participate in IndusFood-II, 2019

  • In order to meet the food and beverage needs from Indian sources, the Indo-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (IBCCI) located in Dhaka, IndusFood-II, will participate in a large group of buyers of food and beverage sector in 2019.
  • After the discussion with the President of India Trade Promotion Council (TPCI) Mr. Ashok Sethi, the President of IBCC and former President of Bangladesh Trade and Industry Federation Mr. Abdul Matlubahmad announced this in Nitol Bhavana, located at Mohakhali in Dhaka.
  • TPCI is working to attract more buyers from SAARC countries to help them meet their food and beverage needs from India. Some of the big buyers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Independent Country (CIS) of the Confederation of India (CIS) have agreed to join Indusuf-II. These big buyers also include buyers of Super Market Chains.

 

05. India Sri Lanka Naval Exercise Slinex-18

  • Indian naval ships Kirch, Sumitra and Kora Diva entered Trincomalee, Sri Lanka to attend the 6th edition of Bileneux 2018 between India and Sri Lanka from 7 to 13 September 2018.
  • The SLINEX series of bilateral marine practice was started in 2005 and since then five successful exercises have been conducted.
  • Over the years, SLINEX has helped both navies understand each other’s processes and increase interoperability.
  • This version of this exercise will further strengthen relations between two marine neighbors and contribute towards maritime security in this area.

 

06. Rajnath Singh inaugurates the sixth International Zeratric Orthopedic Conference

  • In the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Union Home Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh presented the sixth conference of International Geriatric Allopedic Society of India on ‘Increasing Activity of Aging and Increasing Activism’.
  • On this occasion, the Home Minister appreciated the Ayurveda Bharat Swasthya Yojana, announced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the benefit of the rural and the poor.
  • Under this scheme, the Government will provide affordable health facilities to the poor, needy people and their families, especially the elderly, with universal health insurance.

 

07. India and France signed ‘Mobilize Your City’ (MYC) Program Implementation Agreement

  • India and France have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for implementing the International Program ‘Mobilize Your City (MYC)’. The signing of the agreement was done in the presence of Minister of State for Urban Affairs (Independent Charge) Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri and Ambassador of France Mr. Alexander Jigler in India.
  • Mobilize Your City (MYC) is part of an international program, supported by the governments of France and Germany. It was launched in December 2015 at the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21).
  • Based on AFD’s proposal in 2015, the European Union has agreed to give 3.5 million euros of funds for investment and technical assistance in the Mobilize Your City program in India.

 

08. Siam elected Rajan Wadhera as new president

  • Indian Automobile Industry’s top body The Executive Committee of the Indian Automobile Manufacturers Society (SIAM) has selected Rajan Vadhera as its new president.
  • He is also the president of Automotive Zone, Mahindra & Mahindra.
  • He will replace Abhay Ferodiya, chairman of Force Motors Ltd.
  • Wadhera has been Vice President of Siam by now

 

09. India Blue won the Duleep Trophy

  • India Blue won the Dalip Trophy by defeating the current champion India Red by one innings and 187 runs in the final.
  • Spinner Deepak Jagbir Hooda (5 wickets for 56 runs) and Saurabh Kumar (5 for 51) gave India red on 172 runs in the second innings in just 10.5 overs on the fourth day.
  • Dalip Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India.
  • It is named after Kumar Shree Dalip Singh.
